Working Holiday in Thailand for Australians (2026)

Requirements, application steps and preparation before departure.

Step 1

Check requirements and language preparation

Age

The Australian B-A2 checklist establishes nationality and residence but does not state age. No New Zealand condition or third-party age claim is promoted.

Length of stay

The category shows one-year multiple-entry visa validity. Authorised stay per entry was not established; validity is not equated with a year of continuous stay.

Initial funds

The Australian B-A2 category lists financial evidence such as the last three months of bank statements or a sponsor letter. Confirm mission acceptance and separate departure costs.

Visa fee

The inspected category slide does not state the current B-A2 charge. Canberra says fees are non-refundable and may change.

Annual quota

No Australian annual allocation was verified in the B-A2 or eVisa instructions. Australia’s inbound Thai cap is not used.

Application dates and timing

This is Canberra’s indicative lead time, not an annual opening or guarantee. Confirm category-specific timing.

Passport

B-A2 requires the details page and current residence evidence. The slide does not settle an extra passport-validity margin.

Insurance

The Australian B-A2 checklist expressly requests this cover, without establishing a monetary minimum.

Documents and participation

Also provide a photo under six months old and chest X-ray/medical certificate issued within three months. Home Affairs lists a support letter, absent from the category slide; confirm additional mission requirements.

Step 2

Apply through the official route

Use Thailand’s official eVisa portal under Australian Work and Holiday B-A2, through the mission for your current residence. Canberra covers Australian jurisdictions except NSW, whose residents apply through Sydney. eVisa has replaced paper filing.

  1. Confirm B-A2 and the responsible mission using your current Australian residence. Ask about age, admission, work limits and the support letter.
  2. Gather the Australian B-A2 passport, residence, photo, funds, tertiary, insurance and recent medical documents.
  3. Complete the official eVisa application under the correct jurisdiction. Check the information before paying; submitted applications cannot freely be edited.
  4. Respond to further requests, then download and print the approval. Verify visa validity, admission length and work conditions before travel.

Step 3

Read your approval and entry conditions

Read the entire approval notice: identity, dates, entry deadline and conditions. Keep it available offline. Do not assume the visa starts on your preferred date.

Step 4

Get ready for the trip

Do not substitute the remote-work DTV or New Zealand Working Holiday category. Plan medical dates and full-duration cover. Confirm operational rules before non-refundable travel.

  • Passport, visa and requested evidence accessible offline.
  • Initial funds, insurance and departure costs checked separately.
  • First accommodation and airport transport arranged.

Step 5

Start your Working Holiday

Print the eVisa for the airline and immigration. Check the actual admission stamp and work formalities; one-year visa validity does not prove a one-year stay per entry.

Work

Job restrictions, employer limits and any additional work formalities need confirmation. The category name alone is not unrestricted work authority.

Language courses · commercial service

Plan a language course for your trip.

Through ViveCampus you can request language-course quotes with international-student discounts. Offers may vary by your country of origin and destination. A personalized quote confirms available discounts and the final price. Booking a course does not guarantee a visa.

The Australian B-A2 checklist does not establish a course allowance. New Zealand’s allowance is excluded.
