Working Holiday in Singapore for Australians (2026)

Requirements, application steps and preparation before departure.

Step 1

Check requirements and language preparation

Age

This bilateral programme is for Australian and New Zealand citizens. It is distinct from Singapore’s separate university-based six-month Work Holiday Programme.

References: AU-SG-END

Length of stay

The bilateral pass is issued once and is not renewable. It does not include family passes.

References: AU-SG-KEY-END

Initial funds

MOM requires a declaration that you can support yourself. The checked bilateral FAQ does not give a fixed monetary minimum.

References: AU-SG-FUNDS-END

Visa fee

A further SGD 30 Multiple Journey Visa charge applies only where required. Follow the actual issuance instructions.

References: AU-SG-APPLY-END

Annual quota

The checked bilateral eligibility, key-facts and application pages do not establish an Australian annual numeric allocation. No separate programme’s cap is transferred.

Application dates and timing

After approval, arrange issuance within the three-month IPA period. If unable, request an extension at least two weeks before the IPA expires.

Passport

The checked application page requires passport evidence but does not establish an additional remaining-validity margin for this Australian programme.

Insurance

The checked bilateral programme pages do not establish an insurance-policy minimum. Confirm any additional issuance conditions and arrange appropriate travel cover.

Documents and participation

Graduates provide their degree or transcripts. Undergraduates need a recent university letter with the specified personal and study details plus a student card; the letter must be no more than three months old.

Step 2

Apply through the official route

Apply personally to MOM and obtain in-principle approval before travel. Pass issuance is a later step that requires physical presence in Singapore, through the instructed online service or an EPSC appointment.

  1. Use the bilateral Work and Holiday Visa Programme, not the separate six-month Work Holiday Programme. Check age, citizenship and university study conditions.
  2. Submit passport and university evidence, including the recent undergraduate letter if applicable and university-certified English translations when needed.
  3. Apply no more than three months before travel and await the IPA. Check its expiry and enter in time to complete issuance.
  4. While physically in Singapore, complete issuance and payment as instructed. Follow the notification letter for fingerprints or photographs and card delivery.

Step 3

Read your approval and entry conditions

Read the entire approval notice: identity, dates, entry deadline and conditions. Keep it available offline. Do not assume the visa starts on your preferred date.

Step 4

Get ready for the trip

Keep the IPA and education evidence accessible. Allow enough time for issuance before IPA expiry; do not mistake approval to proceed for an already issued pass.

  • Passport, visa and requested evidence accessible offline.
  • Initial funds, insurance and departure costs checked separately.
  • First accommodation and airport transport arranged.

Step 5

Start your Working Holiday

The issuance notification letter permits work and travel while awaiting the card and is valid for one month. Complete any biometric appointment it specifies and observe the six-month employer limit.

Work

No freelance work. Employment must be with an ACRA-registered company or ROS-registered organisation; regulated professions require the relevant local registration.

Study

MOM says study and training limits depend on the bilateral programme, but the checked Australian guidance does not quantify the Australian allowance. The New Zealand limit is not copied.
