Working Holiday in Estonia for Australians (2026)

Requirements, application steps and preparation before departure.

Step 1

Check requirements and language preparation

Initial funds

Treaty says reasonable initial funds. Generic D table says EUR 70/day for other applicants; its interaction with WH exception needs confirmation, so no automatic numeric WH threshold.

Visa fee

MFA page places Australian youth visa within D exceptions but states no separate Australian fee waiver. Confirm collection/payment with instructed centre.

Annual quota

No current numeric allocation established by the inspected Australian exception or memorandum.

Application dates and timing

No annual Australian youth-visa filing window established; arrange a centre appointment and allow authority processing.

Passport

General D rule: validity at least three months beyond visa expiry.

References: AU-EE-MFA2

Insurance

MFA allows a gap-free transition to Estonian public insurance where actually applicable; do not assume employment immediately supplies coverage.

Documents and participation

MFA requests three preceding months of income evidence; get the WH-specific evidence confirmation from Canberra’s instructed centre.

Step 2

Apply through the official route

Canberra directs D visa applications through its listed VFS centres; choose the embassy/centre covering your country of residence and identify the Australian youth-visa exception.

  1. Confirm the Australian youth category, numeric funds interpretation and current employer-registration procedure with the responsible mission.
  2. Complete the D visa application and gather your passport, photo, three months of income evidence and holiday-purpose documents.
  3. Legalise/apostille and translate applicable foreign public documents; arrange full gap-free insurance and attend the instructed centre.
  4. Pay the confirmed D/provider fees, respond to additional evidence requests and check the visa before travelling.

Step 3

Read your approval and entry conditions

Read the entire approval notice: identity, dates, entry deadline and conditions. Keep it available offline. Do not assume the visa starts on your preferred date.

Step 4

Get ready for the trip

The original memorandum names a former registration agency. Confirm its present procedure before a job exceeding three months; do not turn a three-month employer condition into a total-work allowance.

  • Passport, visa and requested evidence accessible offline.
  • Initial funds, insurance and departure costs checked separately.
  • First accommodation and airport transport arranged.

Step 5

Start your Working Holiday

Keep study within the bilateral three-month allowance, preserve the holiday purpose and arrange authority registration before remaining with one employer beyond three months. Verify professional recognition where relevant.

Work

Memorandum refers to registration with the former Citizenship and Migration Board; current PBGB procedure needs confirmation. Holiday primary; not all 12 months in work.

Language courses · commercial service

Plan a language course for your trip.

Through ViveCampus you can request language-course quotes with international-student discounts. Offers may vary by your country of origin and destination. A personalized quote confirms available discounts and the final price. Booking a course does not guarantee a visa.

The study condition comes from the Australian bilateral annex. Check that your course fits the permission issued to you.
