Step 2

Apply through the official route

Apply personally to the Spanish mission responsible for your residence. Canberra covers ACT and Queanbeyan; Sydney or Melbourne handles other applicable districts. Melbourne has appointment, personal filing and collection stages, and excludes postal filing.

  1. Establish your mission’s jurisdiction and request an appointment. Check whether the NIE must be issued before the visa application.
  2. Prepare higher-education and Spanish evidence, passport, financial history, return means and your mission’s insurance.
  3. Obtain recent medical and name/fingerprint police certificates. Submit personally with the forms, photo, residence proof and confirmed fees.
  4. Collect the passport as instructed and check the visa, entry and work dates before travel. Obtain the mission’s arrival instructions.

Step 3

Read your approval and entry conditions

Read the entire approval notice: identity, dates, entry deadline and conditions. Keep it available offline. Do not assume the visa starts on your preferred date.

Step 4

Get ready for the trip

For Melbourne, apply for the NIE several weeks before the visa appointment. Preserve jurisdiction differences in funds, insurance and NIE timing. Protective preparation is not a universal legal rule.

  • Passport, visa and requested evidence accessible offline.
  • Initial funds, insurance and departure costs checked separately.
  • First accommodation and airport transport arranged.

Step 5

Start your Working Holiday

Carry the passport used for the visa and follow its entry deadline and residence instructions. Observe the six-month employer and four-month study limits. No Canadian arrival process is imported.
