Step 2

Apply through the official route

Australian applications normally go through VFS for processing by Canberra. The ministry lists limited alternative European missions for Australians legally in Schengen; it does not allow filing inside Austria.

  1. Confirm qualification evidence and ask Canberra how the declaration’s German requirement or waiver is assessed.
  2. Use the current VFS Australia routing and three-month filing window; consult the mission before using an alternative listed location.
  3. Prepare the D form, recent photo, passport, full insurance and initial/return resources; confirm current funds evidence.
  4. Attend the required submission, pay the current charges and inspect the visa dates and conditions before entry.

Step 3

Read your approval and entry conditions

Read the entire approval notice: identity, dates, entry deadline and conditions. Keep it available offline. Do not assume the visa starts on your preferred date.

Step 4

Get ready for the trip

Do not rely on the old six-month filing statement. Resolve language evidence and numeric funds with the mission before paying for fixed travel.

  • Passport, visa and requested evidence accessible offline.
  • Initial funds, insurance and departure costs checked separately.
  • First accommodation and airport transport arranged.

Step 5

Start your Working Holiday

Keep work incidental to the holiday, observe the four-month study cap and the granted 12-month maximum; the agreement does not permit an in-country WH application.

Work

Australian provision exempts a separate work permit; no reverse-direction Australian six-month employer rule imported.
