Check requirements and prepare your language skills

Age when applying

Inclusive. The embassy requires a permanent address in Argentina.

Passport and nationality

Argentine passport for the full stay

Two blank pages. OIF additionally requires validity of at least one year counted from the thirtieth day after submission. Prepare a passport satisfying both conditions.

These are separate steps. Before travel, confirm how you will receive the permit and what to do on arrival. Do not leave it until after your entry-visa stay expires.

Language courses · commercial service

Prepare your language skills before travelling.

Through ViveCampus, you can get quotes for language courses with international-student discounts. Offers may vary by your country of origin and destination. Request a personalized quote to confirm available discounts and the final price. Booking a course does not guarantee a visa.

Step 2

Apply for the Working Holiday visa

Annual quota

200 per year

Annual treaty quota, also listed by OIF. It does not indicate current availability.

Application dates

Contact the consulate at least 90 days before travel to confirm when to file. This is a preparation recommendation, not an opening date or a confirmed filing deadline.

Visa fee

ARS 188,912 · August 2026 table

WHS fee in the table effective 1 August 2026, subject to exchange-rate adjustments. The page specifies in-person payment by bank transfer. Confirm the amount and instructions before paying.

How to prepare your application

Book an official consular appointment and file the Argentine application personally. Residence approval and the visa used to enter and receive the permit are distinct stages; confirm the ambiguous 90-day advance-filing wording with the consulate.

  1. Confirm the filing schedule, passport validity and updated fee with the consulate.
  2. Book through the official system linked by the embassy and prepare the form and evidence.
  3. Submit personally in Buenos Aires. Wait for approval before non-refundable spending.
  4. If approved, check the entry visa and arrange collection of the residence permit within your first 30 days in Hungary.

OIF states 21 days of administration, excluding periods for missing documents or other procedural steps. Appointment waiting time is additional; this is not a promise of a decision within three weeks. ARHU2

Step 3

If my visa is approved

Wait for a written decision. Before booking, check your entry deadline and the conditions of the permit you receive.

Length of stay

Up to 12 months with a permit

The entry visa is not twelve months of residence: it allows one entry and up to 30 days. The embassy says to obtain the permit within the first 30 days in Hungary. OIF lists three months of entry-visa validity; check your document and keep these deadlines separate.

Step 4

Get ready for my trip

Funds for your stay

Sufficient initial funds plus a return ticket or funds to buy it are required. The guide gives no numeric amount. Prepare bank evidence and confirm accepted documents with the consulate.

Travel insurance

Comprehensive full-stay insurance

Must cover hospitalisation and repatriation for illness, accident or death. The guide consulted does not specify a minimum insured sum: confirm coverage before buying.

Work conditions

Confirm permitted activities and employment limits under the Argentine agreement with the consulate before accepting a role. Other passports’ limits are not substituted.

Study during your trip

Confirm permitted study and duration before paying for a course. WHS does not automatically replace a student visa.

Collect your permit on arrival

OIF sends the residence card by post to the delivery address in the application; personal collection is exceptional. The embassy says to obtain the permit within the first 30 days. Confirm arrangements before travel: the single-entry visa permits up to 30 days, not twelve months by itself.

Your first days

  • Plan your transfer and keep your accommodation address available offline.
  • Before accepting a job, check the contract, work conditions and relevant local formalities.
  • If studying, confirm your timetable and location with the school. Save support contacts and review your budget.

Frequently asked questions

When should I book?

Use the embassy’s official system and confirm how its 90-day advance wording applies; the text does not establish an unambiguous deadline here.

What documents should I prepare?

Prepare the signed form, photo, passport, funds, accommodation, insurance, police evidence and motivation letter required by the consulate. Confirm validity and payment before attending.

References: ARHU1

Does the entry visa last one year?

Where do I receive the permit?

OIF specifies postal delivery to the application’s delivery address. Confirm the address and consular arrangements; personal collection requires a justified exception.

References: ARHU-OIF-18

Can I renew or switch the permit in Hungary?

OIF says this permit cannot be extended and another residence purpose cannot be applied for in Hungary during or after its validity. Ask about the appropriate route before planning another stay.
