Step 3

Read your approval and entry conditions

Read the entire approval notice: identity, dates, entry deadline and conditions. Keep it available offline. Do not assume the visa starts on your preferred date.

Step 4

Get ready for the trip

Separate JPY 200,000 from departure funds and arrange full-stay cover including death, injury and sickness. Record visa validity separately from the period allowed on each entry.

  • Passport, visa and requested evidence accessible offline.
  • Initial funds, insurance and departure costs checked separately.
  • First accommodation and airport transport arranged.

Step 5

Start your Working Holiday

The stay is counted from the day after arrival. For a longer stay, apply to immigration within the final 15 days of the 180 days; total stay cannot exceed 1 year from first entry. Regulated occupations have separate qualification requirements.

Work

Regulated specialist work still needs the relevant qualifications; holiday remains the main purpose.
