Step 2

Apply for the visa

  1. Check the French conditions and the current checklist of the Taiwan representative office in Paris or Aix-en-Provence. The passport must remain valid for at least twelve months from application.
  2. Complete the online form, print it and sign it. Prepare photos, funds, travel arrangements, insurance, a medical certificate and police clearance.
  3. File personally with the responsible representative office in France. Check local arrangements and the fee equivalent before the appointment.
  4. After issue, check the visa dates and the initial 180-day stay. If needed, request an extension during the official period before expiry.

Step 3

After approval

Read the full decision: dates, identity, conditions and any evidence needed on arrival. Keep a copy available offline. Do not assume the visa starts or ends on your preferred date.

Step 4

Prepare your trip

Prepare EUR 2,100 in initial funds, separate from return or onward travel, and insurance for the whole stay covering medical treatment, hospitalisation and repatriation. Prepare two recent photos and the required medical certificate and police clearance. The BOCA page is dated 2017: confirm forms, document presentation and payment with the responsible representative office in France.

  • Passport, visa and evidence accessible offline.
  • Insurance, financial reserve and departure travel checked separately.
  • First accommodation, arrival transport and emergency contacts prepared.

Step 5

Start your Working Holiday

The visa permits an initial 180-day stay. The official page provides for an extension application within the fifteen days before that expiry, for up to another 180 days, without exceeding one year from first entry. Keep your supporting documents and verify dates with the Taiwanese authority; another entry does not reset that limit.

Work

Visa serves as work permit; professional qualifications still apply.

Frequently asked questions

When does the twelve-month passport validity period start?

The French BOCA page counts from the application date, rather than arrival. Confirm this before filing if your passport is approaching expiry.

References : TW-FRENCH

Can someone else file for me?

The French page requires personal filing with the representative office in Paris or Aix-en-Provence. Check the appointment and responsible office before travelling.

References : TW-FRENCH

Does the visa immediately grant a one-year stay?

The initial period is 180 days. An extension may be requested within the fifteen days before expiry, subject to a total limit of one year from first entry.

References : TW-FRENCH

Does leaving and re-entering reset the stay limit?

No. The page sets a one-year maximum from first entry. Multiple entries do not create a new year of stay.

References : TW-FRENCH

Does the working holiday visa authorise work?

BOCA states that the visa serves as a work permit. Specialised occupations may still require qualifications or professional registration. A general same-employer limit was not established in the inspected French page.

References : TW-FRENCH

What health and police documents should I prepare?

The French checklist requires a medical certificate and a good-conduct certificate, together with insurance for the whole stay. Confirm forms and document validity with the responsible representative office.
