After approval

Read the full decision: dates, identity, conditions and any evidence needed on arrival. Keep a copy available offline. Do not assume the visa starts or ends on your preferred date.

Step 4

Prepare your trip

Keep three months of personal bank records and ask the consulate to resolve the French guide’s EUR 1,300 against the general five-minimum-wage rule. Prepare Spanish motivation, signed undertaking, formalised criminal evidence and comprehensive insurance.

Frequently asked questions

Does the stay start at arrival?

The French guide says the one-year validity begins on the issue date. Later travel therefore does not automatically postpone expiry.

References : CO2

Which bank threshold should I prepare?

The French guide states EUR 1,300 in the previous month; the general rule requires a three-month average above five SMLMV unless the agreement differs. Ask the consulate which threshold applies.

References : CO1 CO2

Can the motivation letter be in French?

The French consular guide requests a Spanish letter explaining the trip and absence of previous participation. Also use the current official undertaking form.

References : CO2

Can I apply while staying in Colombia?

The guide excludes filing from Colombia. The national rule points to the nationality-country consulate while the guide also discusses lawful residence elsewhere: confirm any filing outside France.

References : CO1 CO2

Is employment limited to a named employer?

The national Vacaciones y Trabajo category provides open work permission. Occupational rules still apply; older general working-hour examples in the guide are not treated as current.

Can family members obtain derivative status?

The national page says this category does not accept beneficiaries. A relative must examine an independent route rather than assume permission derived from WH.

For your application, use the issuing authority’s official contact details. For assistance to French citizens abroad, use the French diplomatic directory; the French consulate does not decide the host country’s visa.
