Requirements, application steps and preparation before departure.

Step 1

Check requirements and language preparation

Age

Age 18 to 34 is assessed on the application date; the notice’s birth-date examples belong only to that year and are not extrapolated.

Length of stay

Enter within 1 year of issue, with up to 1 year after first entry; a planned stay over 90 days requires registration.

Initial funds

Taipei requests USD 3,000; general WHIC guidance states KRW 3,000,000. Prepare the Taipei evidence and confirm; do not invent an exchange conversion.

Visa fee

This Taipei notice does not establish a clear numerical visa charge; confirm with the office before filing rather than copying another nationality’s waiver.

Annual quota

The annual cap is 800, not remaining places or confirmation of acceptance today; check official filing instructions directly.

Application dates and timing

The 2026 notice lists 5 May to 4 December for filing, with closure days. This is the announced schedule for that year, not live availability or a date for the next year.

Language

The Taipei checklist does not list a general Korean examination, but forms and plans must meet the stated language and signature instructions.

Passport

The passport needs at least 12 months validity, alongside original ID and copies; the office retains the original passport until collection.

Insurance

At least 365 days of overseas cover, with overseas, Korean or equivalent geographic coverage clearly stated. Do not replace Taipei’s checklist with an unconfirmed generic won minimum.

Documents and participation

Arrange the required recent originals in order; bank evidence must be in your own name from an institution in Taiwan, alongside household, education, police and specified medical evidence.

Step 2

Apply through the official route

  1. Check age 18 to 34 on the application date and no previous issue of this visa, then read Taipei’s annual filing notice.
  2. Prepare the required originals issued within three months in checklist order, including personal bank, household, education, police and specified medical evidence.
  3. File personally with the office and keep the receipt; the notice provides passport collection after ten working days, subject to actual instructions.
  4. After approval, distinguish entry within one year of issue from a one-year stay after entry, and arrange insurance and registration.

Step 3

Read your approval and entry conditions

Read the entire approval notice: identity, dates, entry deadline and conditions. Keep it available offline. Do not assume the visa starts on your preferred date.

Step 4

Get ready for the trip

Bank evidence must be in your own name from a bank or post office in Taiwan for at least USD 3,000. Passport validity must be at least twelve months; arrange at least 365 days of overseas insurance expressly showing overseas or Korean cover. Use the office’s medical format at a designated hospital; do not substitute vaccination evidence for missing examinations or invent a conversion from WHIC’s generic won amount.

  • Passport, visa and requested evidence accessible offline.
  • Initial funds, insurance and departure costs checked separately.
  • First accommodation and airport transport arranged.

Step 5

Start your Working Holiday

For a stay over ninety days, apply for foreigner registration within ninety days of entry; report address changes within fourteen days. Taipei’s notice lists 1,300 hours annually with a 25 hours per week times 52 parenthetical and restricted occupations; a one-year stay does not imply unlimited work.

Work

Taipei’s notice uses a 25-hour weekly figure times 52 weeks; WHIC separately states a general 25-hour weekly limit. Preserve both instructions and comply with occupational restrictions.
