Working Holiday in Uruguay for Dutch citizens (2026)

Requirements, application steps and preparation before departure.

Step 1

Check requirements and prepare your language

Age

The general government guidance gives different age limits. The Dutch limit is not yet separately confirmed, so this destination is not treated as a confirmed age match.

Length of stay

The Dutch section includes a declaration referring to no more than two years, but the exact permit duration still needs reconciliation with the agreement. Do not plan a two-year stay without consular confirmation.

Documents and participation

First confirm age and permitted stay with the consulate. The checklist includes medical and criminal-record documents, recent financial evidence and legalized documents. Residence formalities and separate charges follow arrival.

Step 2

Apply for the visa

The Dutch section describes personal filing at the consulate in The Hague. Confirm age and stay first: its two-year declaration remains unreconciled with the specific agreement.

  1. Ask the consulate to clarify the Dutch age and permitted stay.
  2. Prepare passport valid at least one year, medical evidence, recent financial records and authenticated police certificates.
  3. File personally in The Hague and follow consular instructions; do not declare an unconfirmed stay length.
  4. After approval, check the individual conditions, enter within 180 days of notice and arrange migration/identity steps.

Step 3

After approval

Read the entire approval notice: identity, dates, entry deadline and conditions. Keep it available offline. Do not assume the visa starts on your preferred date.

Step 4

Prepare your trip

Police evidence must be issued within six months before filing, and financial records within thirty days. Bring your legalised/apostilled and, where needed, translated birth certificate for the identity card.

  • Passport, visa and requested evidence accessible offline.
  • Initial funds, insurance and departure costs checked separately.
  • First accommodation and airport transport arranged.

Step 5

Start your Working Holiday

The Dutch section requires personal attendance at National Migration after entry, followed by identity-card formalities. Bring passport, photo, birth certificate and required payments; confirm current amounts and your individual grant.
