Working Holiday in South Korea for Brazilian citizens (2026)

Requirements, application steps and travel preparation.

Step 1

Check requirements and prepare your language skills

Age when applying

18–34

The embassy and 2026/27 table give 18–34 for Brazil. Birth-date examples in the 2025 announcement are historical; do not reuse them for a later application.

Passport and nationality

Brazilian and resident in Brazil; prepare 1-year validity

The embassy asks for six months’ validity, while WHIC gives one year as a general rule. To avoid falling short, prepare at least a year if possible and confirm with your office. This cautious preparation does not turn a generic rule into a new nationality-specific requirement.

Language requirement

A language test requirement was not established in the inspected sources. The form language and acceptance of Portuguese or English documents are separate document instructions.

Documents and previous participation

In-person application, RG/CIN, plan, health and police checks

The checklist requests a form in English or Korean, passport and copy, RG/CIN, photo, residence, travel plan, funds, insurance, recent police and medical certificates. Portuguese or English documents do not need translation. No previous participation; the embassy excludes Brazil/Korea dual citizens. Prepare any additional documents requested by your jurisdiction.

Before applying

The recorded Brazilian checklist asks for financial evidence issued within one month, above the equivalent of KRW 3 million, plus tickets or money to buy them. Prepare police evidence issued within three months and a medical certificate within six months, subject to current confirmation. As a precaution, plan for one-year passport validity and full-stay insurance with KRW 40 million cover, while preserving the official differences.

Language courses · commercial service

Prepare your language skills before travelling.

Through ViveCampus, you can get quotes for language courses with international-student discounts. Offers may vary by your country of origin and destination. Request a personalized quote to confirm available discounts and the final price. Booking a course does not guarantee a visa.

Step 2

Apply for the Working Holiday visa

Annual quota

300 per year

This is the Brazilian programme’s annual maximum. It is not remaining places or confirmation of lodgement today.

Application dates

During the year, subject to official appointments

WHIC describes applications during the year. Apply in person in Brazil at the office for your residence. Check its calendar and appointment instructions; we do not display live availability.

Visa fee

No application fee

The embassy states that the application fee is waived. Certificates, insurance, flights and other preparation costs remain separate.

How to prepare your application

  1. Check Brazil’s age range of 18 to 34, residence in Brazil and the responsible mission. Request the current H-1 checklist before arranging the appointment.
  2. Prepare the form, passport, RG or CIN, residence evidence, travel plan, recent funds evidence, insurance and medical and police certificates.
  3. Attend in person with printed documents and exchange-rate evidence where applicable. Confirm differences between the Brazilian checklist and general guidance.
  4. Wait for the decision, check the entry deadline and authorised period, and follow the visa and arrival instructions received.

The embassy gives about five business days for a complete file; its checklist describes five as a minimum. Allow extra time: incomplete documents or demand may extend processing.

Step 3

If my visa is approved

Wait for a written decision. Before booking, check your entry deadline and the conditions of the permit you receive.

Length of stay

1 year; enter within 1 year of issue

The embassy describes a one-year visa and requires entry within one year of issue. Check your issued dates and authorised period.

Step 4

Get ready for my trip

Funds for your stay

Above KRW 3,000,000, plus return travel

The checklist requests recent proof, within one month, above the equivalent of KRW 3,000,000. Without return flight tickets you must show equivalent money to buy them. Financial documents in another currency need exchange-rate evidence. Confirm the accepted format.

Travel insurance

Full stay; prepare KRW 40,000,000 cover

Insurance must include hospitalization throughout the stay. The embassy recommends KRW 40,000,000; WHIC presents it as a general minimum. Prepare that cover or higher and confirm conditions before buying.

Step 5

Start my Working Holiday in South Korea

Work conditions

Up to 25 hours per week

The embassy sets 25 hours weekly. Brazil’s row does not add an employment-duration cap, but this does not remove the weekly maximum or your permit’s activity restrictions.

Study during your trip

Korean courses; no month limit in the table

WHIC allows language courses at private institutions and lists no month limit for Brazil. This is not permission for a regular university degree; confirm the course, schedule and conditions.

On arrival

Keep passport, visa, insurance, travel plan and financial evidence. Check registration formalities with the Korean authority. Observe the 25-hour weekly work ceiling and occupational restrictions. The absence of a month limit in Brazil’s table does not permit unlimited weekly work or ordinary university degree study.

Your first days

  • Plan your transfer and keep your accommodation address available offline.
  • Before accepting a job, check the contract, work conditions and relevant local formalities.
  • If studying, confirm your timetable and location with the school. Save support contacts and review your budget.
