Working Holiday in New Zealand for Brazilian citizens (2026)

Requirements, application steps and travel preparation.

Step 1

Check requirements and prepare your language skills

Age when applying

18–30

This range applies to Brazilian citizens. Age does not replace checking every other requirement.

References: BR-NZ-18

Passport and nationality

Brazilian; 3 months beyond visa expiry

Your passport must remain valid for at least three months beyond visa expiry. Check that date before applying and enter your details exactly.

Language requirement

The application is completed in English. That alone does not mean a language test is required; confirm any evidence INZ requests in your case.

Documents and previous participation

No previous New Zealand Working Holiday

A previous grant prevents another application even if you did not use the visa. INZ may request medical or police certificates; arrange certified English translations where required.

References: BR-NZ-18

Before applying

Check that the passport remains valid for three months beyond the expected visa expiry. Keep NZD 4,200 for living costs, plus departure travel or money to buy it. Insurance must cover the whole stay, including hospital treatment. INZ may request examinations and police certificates; do not treat conditional examinations as mandatory for everyone.

Language courses · commercial service

Prepare your language skills before travelling.

Through ViveCampus, you can get quotes for language courses with international-student discounts. Offers may vary by your country of origin and destination. Request a personalized quote to confirm available discounts and the final price. Booking a course does not guarantee a visa.

Step 2

Apply for the Working Holiday visa

Annual quota

300 per year

This is Brazil’s published annual allocation, not remaining places. Confirm the calendar directly with INZ.

References: BR-NZ-18

Application dates

The next Brazilian application calendar was not established in this review. Check INZ’s official announcement; the annual allocation establishes neither an opening nor remaining places.

Visa fee

From NZD 770

Confirm the final amount INZ displays for your application. Examinations, translations, insurance and flights are separate expenses.

How to prepare your application

  1. Check age, passport and that you have never been granted a New Zealand Working Holiday visa. Check Brazil’s applicable calendar directly with INZ.

  3. Complete the online application in English, provide requested documents and pay the charge shown by INZ.

Step 3

If my visa is approved

Wait for a written decision. Before booking, check your entry deadline and the conditions of the permit you receive.

Length of stay

Up to 12 months

Enter within 12 months of issue. If you do not use the visa, expiry does not allow another New Zealand Working Holiday application. Check your eVisa dates.

Step 4

Get ready for my trip

Funds for your stay

Minimum NZD 4,200, plus departure

Departure funds must be additional to the NZD 4,200 for living costs. You can show a ticket or enough money to buy one.

Travel insurance

Medical insurance for the full stay

Coverage must last throughout your stay, including hospitalization. INZ may request the certificate or insurer confirmation.
