Passport and nationality

Valid throughout the stay

The programme sheet requires validity throughout the stay.

Language requirement

The current SERMIG checklist specifies no test or language level for this subcategory. It requires official translations of documents outside Spanish or English; that is different from a language test.

Documents and previous participation

Study, records and motivation

Tertiary qualification or acceptance into third university year; apostilled/legalised records no older than 60 days, medical certificate and motivation letter. No dependent children. Alongside programme documents, the current page requires criminal records no older than 60 days and apostille or legalisation; documents outside Spanish or English need official translation. Current filing is digital from abroad, replacing the older consular application channel.

Prepare current documents

Check passport validity, recent criminal records, apostille and translations. Agreement documents remain necessary unless expressly exempted.

Check the EE before download

Request correction before download if there are errors. Do not calculate the entry date from a generic residence duration.

Language courses · commercial service

Prepare your language skills before travelling.

Through ViveCampus, you can get quotes for language courses with international-student discounts. Offers may vary by your country of origin and destination. Request a personalized quote to confirm available discounts and the final price. Booking a course does not guarantee a visa.

Step 2

Apply for the Working Holiday visa

Annual quota

Up to 300 per nationality per year

Agreement ceiling, not current availability.

References: PEAP1

Application dates

The current SERMIG page sets no annual Pacific Alliance intake window. Digital filing outside Chile does not establish available places.

Visa fee

The current subcategory page sets no payable amount for Peru. Confirm charges and any exemption through the official process; another residence category’s fee is not assigned.

  1. Review programme requirements and current SERMIG documents.
  2. From outside Chile, log into your Digital Procedures Portal account.
  3. Select Tratados Internacionales and Working Holiday; upload the current file.
  4. Follow official instructions; if granted, check and download the Electronic Residency Certificate within its deadlines.

Step 3

If my visa is approved

Wait for a written decision. Before booking, check your entry deadline and the conditions of the permit you receive.

Length of stay

SERMIG states effects depend on the applicable agreement and individual decision. This review did not confirm the operational duration of the Peruvian permission; the generic maximum for other residence permits is not transferred.

Frequently asked questions

Where do I apply now?

SERMIG’s September 2026 guidance directs applicants abroad to its portal, selecting Tratados Internacionales and Working Holiday. The old consular-filing sheet remains historical context.

References: PED-CL-SERMIG

Do I use the Mercosur process?

Do not substitute Mercosur. SERMIG explicitly includes Peru in the Pacific Alliance programme and provides a distinct Working Holiday option.

References: PED-CL-SERMIG

How long do I have to download and enter?

For a permit granted abroad, SERMIG states 120 working days from notification to download the EE, then 90 calendar days to enter. Check your decision.

References: PED-CL-EE

Must I register the permit with PDI?

Temporary permits granted after 12 February 2022 do not require that registration for an identity card. This differs from border entry control.

References: PED-CL-EE

When do I request the identity card?

If granted abroad, request the Civil Registry appointment within 30 days after entry. This is the appointment-request deadline; check required documents.

References: PED-CL-EE

Can I study during the programme?

The programme sheet limits study or training to two months.
