Documents and participation

SERMIG lists Ireland under Working Holiday agreements. The detailed Irish-passport age, duration, funds and application evidence still need nationality-specific confirmation. Incoming Irish rules for Chileans are not used as outgoing rules for Irish citizens.

Step 2

Apply through the official route

SERMIG’s general agreement route is an application from outside Chile, through your own digital account, selecting Tratados Internacionales and Working Holiday. First confirm the Irish-specific agreement conditions and checklist; the partner listing alone does not establish eligibility.

  1. Confirm the Irish-specific Working Holiday conditions with SERMIG and Chile’s consulate; age, funds and duration remain unconfirmed here.
  2. Read SERMIG’s general international-agreement documents and treaty exceptions before preparing or legalising records.
  3. If the authority confirms the applicable route, apply from outside Chile through your own account under Tratados Internacionales → Working Holiday.
  4. Wait for an individual decision. If granted Temporary Residence abroad, follow the electronic-permit download and entry instructions before booking.

Step 3

Read your approval and entry conditions

Read the entire approval notice: identity, dates, entry deadline and conditions. Keep it available offline. Do not assume the visa starts on your preferred date.

Step 4

Get ready for the trip

Do not use Chile-to-Ireland rules as Irish-to-Chile conditions. Confirm the treaty checklist and any exemptions before obtaining documents. A listed agreement or an age-only search result does not grant work permission.

  • Passport, visa and requested evidence accessible offline.
  • Initial funds, insurance and departure costs checked separately.
  • First accommodation and airport transport arranged.

Step 5

Start your Working Holiday

If granted Temporary Residence abroad, check the electronic permit before travel. General SERMIG guidance gives 120 working days to download and 90 calendar days after download to enter. Once entry activates residence, book the Chilean identity-card appointment within 30 days. New grants do not require the former PDI permit registration; read your individual conditions.
