Documents and participation
Education evidence plus official ballot registration and random selection are required. Selection is not visa grant. Apply outside Australia; no prior entry on 417/462 and no accompanying dependent children.
Step 2
Apply through the official route
Prepare passport-specific education, English and preliminary evidence first. Apply for the first subclass 462 in ImmiAccount from outside Australia only when permitted to do so; check the actual charge and await the decision.
- Check passport, age, qualification or two completed undergraduate years, and Functional English evidence.
- Register in the official Vietnam ballot under its announced instructions. Random selection only permits the next application stage.
- If selected, apply for the first subclass 462 in ImmiAccount within the notified deadline from outside Australia; check the actual charge.
- Answer document requests and wait for the decision before non-refundable commitments.
Step 3
Read your approval and entry conditions
Read the entire approval notice: identity, dates, entry deadline and conditions. Keep it available offline. Do not assume the visa starts on your preferred date.
Step 4
Get ready for the trip
Budget separately for living costs, insurance, first accommodation and departure.
- Passport, visa and requested evidence accessible offline.
- Initial funds, insurance and departure costs checked separately.
- First accommodation and airport transport arranged.
Step 5
Start your Working Holiday
Keep your passport and grant decision accessible. Check entry requirements, permitted goods and biosecurity rules. Read visa conditions before work or study: the same-employer limit is not a total work limit. Keep departure money separate.
Work
This is not a total work limit. Check exemptions or obtain permission before reaching it.
