Czechia Working Holiday for Chileans (2026)

Requirements, application steps and preparation for your trip.

Step 1

Check requirements and plan my Czech preparation

Age when applying

Submit from age 18 and before turning 31. Booking an appointment is not submission. Age alone does not establish that you can obtain the visa.

Passport and residence

Prepare a Chilean passport valid three months beyond your stay. This guide follows the embassy’s in-person Santiago route; Chilean guidance also mentions residence in Chile. The general portal allows other filing locations in some cases: confirm any exception before travelling to apply.

Language and form

The consulted checklist does not require a Czech or English test. An interview may be in Czech or Spanish; formal questioning is in Czech, with an interpreter at your expense if needed. Records are written in Czech. Course and employer language expectations are separate.

Other requirements

Prepare a legible unaltered form, three 35 × 45 mm photos and the character declaration to sign at the consulate, plus funds and passport. The general portal lists two photos; prepare the three Santiago requests. Confirm before signing the form outside the appointment. No dependants may accompany you. The consulate may request more documents; this site receives none.

Language courses · commercial service

Prepare your language skills before travelling.

Through ViveCampus, you can get quotes for language courses with international-student discounts. Offers may vary by your country of origin and destination. Request a personalized quote to confirm available discounts and the final price. Booking a course does not guarantee a visa.

Step 2

Apply for the Working Holiday visa

Annual quota

The Chilean programme permits up to 200 visas per calendar year. This does not show remaining places or guarantee an appointment or visa. Check the official information for your intended cycle.

References: 1 2

Application dates

Request a consular appointment through the published official email and file in person no more than six months before planned entry. No 2027 annual opening or booking hour is established here. An email response time is not a visa decision time.

References: 1

Visa cost

The fee is CZK 2,500, paid at filing in Chilean pesos or by card under the consulate’s instructions and applicable exchange rate. Insurance, flights, translations and travel costs are additional.

References: 1 2

Decision timing

The embassy states an Interior Ministry assessment within a maximum of 60 days and may request clarification or documents. Appointment waiting and visa collection are separate stages. Do not confuse this with email enquiry response time.

How to prepare your application

  1. Prepare funds and documents using the updated embassy figures. Do not rely on older lower funds or cover. Filing is accepted no more than six months before entry.
  2. Request an appointment at the official consular email in the sources. Enquiries and bookings are handled by the consulate; this website sends no emails or visa applications.
  3. Bring the physical form, passport, three photos and evidence in person. Sign the form and declaration under the appointment instructions and pay the fee. Electronic transmission does not replace filing.
  4. Await the Interior Ministry decision. After approval and before the visa sticker, present insurance and payment evidence. Check validity and conditions before travelling.

An appointment is not a visa approval. Check the embassy’s instructions before making firm financial commitments.

Step 3

If my authorisation is issued

Wait for the written decision before committing to flights or study. If issued an authorisation, check its entry dates and all conditions.

Length of stay

The Interior Ministry’s Chile section gives one year of validity without a Working Holiday extension. Read your visa dates before travel. Your passport must cover at least three months beyond the intended stay. Another residence permit is a separate application, not a guaranteed extension.

A personal planning aid; ticking the list does not confirm visa eligibility. Your ticks are not saved or sent. Reloading this page starts the list again.

Funds for your stay

Prepare at least CZK 115,810 for a year, plus a return ticket or approximately USD 1,500 equivalent. The updated embassy figures exceed older Chilean guidance of CZK 81,400 and USD 1,200: prepare the more cautious budget and confirm current amounts. Bring original statements for the last three months from your own account and associated cards. Consult the official calculation for shorter stays; no amounts are interpolated here.

Insurance throughout your stay

Prepare the current embassy’s minimum EUR 400,000 cover without a deductible, above the older Chilean guide’s EUR 60,000. Cover hospitalization, accidents and repatriation throughout the stay. Confirm policy, provider and exclusions with the authority before buying. Payment evidence and the original policy are presented after approval and before the visa sticker is issued.

Flights and return travel

The embassy accepts a return ticket or resources to buy one, estimated at approximately USD 1,500 beyond living funds. This is neither a flight price nor a fixed peso conversion. Confirm before booking and review cancellation terms.

Step 5

Start my Working Holiday in Czechia

Working during the stay

The Interior Ministry’s Chile section permits labour-market access throughout the authorized stay. Work remains secondary to the holiday. Follow local obligations and visa dates; this guarantees no job and establishes no work rights in another country.

References: 2 1

Czech or other study

The Chilean programme includes training and language courses. No separate numeric study limit or permission for a full degree has been established here. Confirm the course and duration before paying; buying it does not change visa requirements.

Arrival formalities and conditions

  1. Use the correct visa category

The Chilean Working Holiday is a long-term visa. Do not confuse it with a D/VR visa for collecting a residence card.

    References: 8 9

  2. Report your arrival

Register your address with the Foreign Police within three working days of arrival, unless your accommodation has already fulfilled this obligation.

    References: 9

  3. Bring registration documents

For long-term visa registration, bring your passport, registration form and travel medical insurance evidence. Check whether your accommodation reported your stay.

    References: 9

  4. Observe the Chile-specific validity and rights

The Chile section permits work during validity with free labour-market access. The visa allows repeated departure and entry, but does not extend automatically.

Your first days in Czechia

A starting point for planning, not a promise of a job or accommodation. Check your visa conditions before working or studying.

  1. Give yourself time to settle in

Plan the route to your accommodation and keep the address available offline. Allow time to rest, get to know the area and adjust your budget to your actual expenses.

Return to my preparation checklist →
  2. Prepare for your job search

Update your CV in Czech and practise a short introduction about your experience. Read what each role asks for and prepare for interview questions. Czech expectations vary between jobs.

    Explore Czech preparation →
  3. Keep support contacts handy

Keep the consular contact for the area where you will stay, along with your accommodation details. If you will study, ask the school what arrival guidance it provides.

If your plans change, review the costs, dates and relevant conditions before making new bookings.

Review each destination separately. Age, insurance and study conditions differ; an age filter does not decide whether you can obtain a visa.
