Requirements, application steps and preparation before departure.

Step 1

Check requirements and language preparation

Age

The Canadian checklist applies age at issuance, not only application. Current Canadian residence is required.

Length of stay

The Canadian arrangement allows two participations of up to 24 months each. The work ceiling is 40 hours per week; regulated occupations remain separate.

Initial funds

Stamped statement supports approximately CAD 3,400 for the first three months; round-trip itinerary is separate. This approximate amount is not a two-year total budget.

Passport

Original and copy required; confirm validity appropriate to the intended stay. Six months does not guarantee 24-month permission.

Insurance

At least KRW 40,000,000 for full-stay treatment and repatriation; one-year insurance can limit permission to one year. NHIS does not replace repatriation cover.

Documents and participation

Ottawa lists form, photo, signed plan, CV, studies, recent fingerprint RCMP and medical evidence; confirm document validity and jurisdiction.

Step 2

Apply through the official route

Obtain the H-1 checklist for your Canadian consular jurisdiction; Ottawa requires in-person attendance and a printed form.

  1. Check 18–35 at issuance and Canadian residence; select H-1, separate from professional categories.
  2. Gather the office’s current dossier, full insurance, funds and itinerary without buying tickets.
  3. Follow the printed-form instructions and attend the responsible office with confirmed payment.
  4. Await approval before buying flights; check granted duration against insurance.

Step 3

Read your approval and entry conditions

Read the entire approval notice: identity, dates, entry deadline and conditions. Keep it available offline. Do not assume the visa starts on your preferred date.

Step 4

Get ready for the trip

Arrange full intended-stay cover of at least KRW 40 million for treatment and repatriation. Separate initial support and travel funds; confirm the responsible office’s medical and RCMP documents.

  • Passport, visa and requested evidence accessible offline.
  • Initial funds, insurance and departure costs checked separately.
  • First accommodation and airport transport arranged.

Step 5

Start your Working Holiday

For a stay over 90 days, register with immigration within 90 days of entry; report a changed address within 14 days. Check registration card, duration and work limits.

Work

The Canadian announcement distinguishes this limit from other passports’25 hours. Permitted activities and regulated occupations need their own checks.

Language courses · commercial service

Plan a language course for your trip.

Through ViveCampus you can request language-course quotes with international-student discounts. Offers may vary by your country of origin and destination. A personalized quote confirms available discounts and the final price. Booking a course does not guarantee a visa.

The checklist distinguishes Korean-language courses from degree study requiring D-2. No numeric course-duration limit is established here.
